"Teri keh ke lunga" , isn't that catchy when you read it on the posters, it appeals a bit when sardar khan (manoj bhajpai) says it, but has the potential to become a landmark dialogue. We Can say the same for the movie too.
Manoj bhajpai, has definitely played a character which is going to live long, if not as long as vito corleone from the movie The Godfather. He is fearless, cunning, loving, merciless, lusty and desi.
You would love sardar khan's wife and her surprising character, surprising because every time you think "she is just another desi wife" , she would prove you wrong. From allowing his husband to visit prostitutes when she is pregnant, feeding him more so that he performs better in bed with those prostitutes, training her son to take bomb making material to jail in a tiffin box to using coloured language, She is a wonderfully designed character.
Durga (sardar khan's mistress) plays a sultry character, who misses no chance to seduce sardar singh and the audience. she has shown a women in sexy in saree can be more sexy than one in a bikini.
GOW is like reading a novel, the story starts pre-independence and go on and on exploring different characters and their stories. It isn't just about sardar khan's revenge from the killer of his father, but every single character form the story.
You may feel, GOW is anurag kashap's attempt to make an Indian version Godfather series, but it would be unfair to call it a copy. Director has succeeded in keeping every character exclusive and very fresh. Their isn't much scope for predictability as the story jumps from one character to another, and than again to sardar khan.
Sardar khan's attempted assassination plot at the end of this part, was strikingly similar to godfather sequence where vito corleone is attacked.
Movie promises a second part, which would take the story ahead from where it stops.
I paid Rs.190 for the movie and was quite satisfied. Am sure rowdies and goons are gonna use "Teri keh ke lunga" line while their mess ups.
A Good Movie!!!
GOW 2 is more interested and power full than first part, but only if you like bloody fight shots and high voltage action, its real Hindi movie where no western costume and foreign location are there, it has some lovely Gallis which make you laugh. Nawajuddin Siddiqui is a brilliant new comer. Anurag Keshap direction is outstanding. please make sure you watch this film only with friends not with family.
ReplyDeleteyes, haven't seen the movie yet, but am sure its an awesome flick.
